Fourteen Years Today: José María Gutiérrez Hernández

On December 2nd, 1995; Guti made his official debut for Real Madrid. Since then, he’s played 522 matches for the Merengues and scored 77 goals along the way. After witnessing 14 years of this genius, I can say it’s been an ‘up and down’ 14 years. On his day, his vision and passing is unmatched, but on his off days he is the most frustrating player to watch. I compare him Clarence Seedorf in that sense. My fondest memories of him were during 2000-20001 season, when Real Madrid’s striker injury crisis forced Guti to push up and play as a striker – he scored 18 goals that season. Not bad for a midfielder. When he’s on, I have yet to see a player who can make those incredible audacious through-balls that he makes.

Sounds like the Fake Ronaldo when he is playing in the money matches. The fake Ronaldo is great during the season but when it counts voce vai. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/
